Wood or composite?
Wood costs less up front and needs stain or sealer. Composite costs more up front and is listed as resisting rot, fade, and insects with simple cleaning. We will price both on the same footprint if you want the comparison.
How long will it last?
The deck FAQ says a wood deck can last 15–20 years with care, and composite 25–30 years or more. Hardwood is listed separately at 40-plus years. Those are material ranges, not a promise about a specific yard.
Do decks need a permit?
Often, if the deck is attached, tall, or large. Thresholds differ. See the permitting guide, then we confirm the rule for your city when we bid the job.
