Composite fences

Composite fencing is the wood look without the splinters or the rot. Our fence page describes it as engineered for the Pacific Northwest and made with recycled material.

The fence product sheet groups composite boards with cedar and names Composite, Creative Surfaces, Sim Tek, NewTechWood, Trex, Mandoria, and Veranda Vinyl. A quote will name the actual board, not the whole list.

Compared with cedar

Face

Composite is meant to read as wood from the yard. Cedar is the real grain, and it will gray unless you stain it.

Upkeep

Composite is listed as unwilling to splinter or rot. Cedar is rot-resistant, not rot-proof, and it moves with the weather.

Where it sits

Same install questions as any fence: property line, utility locate, post depth, and whether the city wants a permit.
