Composite decks

Composite decking is the board that looks like wood and does not take stain. Our deck page names Trex and TimberTech, and lists the material as nearly maintenance-free, fade and stain resistant, with a manufacturer warranty of 25 years or more.

The deck product sheet also names Fiberon, Deckorators, NewTechWood, and Azek, plus cedar, mahogany, and tigerwood as wood alternatives. Railing lines on that sheet are Fortress, Alumarail, Aria, and Veranda. Under-deck drainage on the sheet is Trex RainEscape and DrySpace.

Rail choices

Black aluminum, white rail on a covered porch, and a wood frame with wire mesh. The rail is a separate decision from the deck board.

Framing still matters

The walking surface can be composite while the frame is pressure-treated lumber. Our cost-saving article explains that hybrid approach.

Is the 25-year warranty your workmanship warranty?

No. The 25-year-or-more line is the manufacturer warranty printed on the deck page. Woodmasters’ written installation warranty is on the warranty page and is shorter. Both can apply to different parts of the same job. We will say which is which in the quote.
